Nicholas' Journal  July 2006

July 27, 2006 Thursday - (Day +601) Outpatient - (Day 558)

Nicholas is getting ready to go back to his moms and go camping for the weekend with brother. He is so excited. He will be fishing, on the beach, and camping by the fire at night. He loves to go camping. I am going to miss him this weekend but it will be fun for him to go out and camp. Please pray for Nicholas for a great, and safe weekend of camping.

July 26, 2006 Wednesday - (Day +600) Outpatient - (Day 557)

Nicholas wants to wear his favorite Spiderman shirt even though it is over 100 degrees here. He is swimming twice a day to cool off and just play in the water. It lets me cool off also.  He loves the pool and the water. Please keep praying for his health as we have a Dr. appt in Spokane next week.

July 25, 2006 Tuesday - (Day +599) Outpatient - (Day 556)

Here he is sporting his new hair cut and still dancing to his favorite whale song. WE are on our way out to go swimming and feed the ducks. He is doing great and is growing like a weed. Please pray for our little Nicholas and his IGG counts.

July 23, 2006 Sunday - (Day +597) Outpatient - (Day 554)

Like I said, here he is still in the pool "looking good." He is such a ham. After going out for our drive we retreated to the house and the pool. It is too hot to go out (112 deg) other than the pool. So, we ran, played, danced and swam all day here at home. Please pray for our little Nicholas and his continued great health.

July 22, 2006 Saturday - (Day +596) Outpatient - (Day 553)

Here he is singing and dancing to his new favorite "whale" song. He plays it over and over and just dances all over the living room. He is so funny. I turned his spongebob pants into shorts and he wanted to wear them to bed. This is one of his favorite pajamas, but has not wore them for a while because they were pants. So he is very happy and excited. Please pray for our little Nicholas and his great health.

July 21, 2006 Friday - (Day +595) Outpatient - (Day 552)

It has been very hot here (108 deg) and Nicholas wants to stay in his pool where it is cool. He loves to swim and would stay all day if you let him. We went to feed the ducks real fast and came home to stay out of the heat. He is so awesome. Please pray for Nicholas' IGG levels to continue to do better.

July 19, 2006 Wednesday - (Day +593) Outpatient - (Day 550)

Nicholas woke up this morning wanting to feed the ducks and go swimming. So we did both. The ducks got lunch, and then we had a swim party. He loves the water and is such a big help filling up the pool. He would swim all day if you let him. Please pray for his IGG levels to stay high.

July 18, 2006 Tuesday - (Day +592) Outpatient - (Day 549)

Nicholas came dressed in his favorite clothes, his new friend spiderman. We ran, played, wrestled and fed the ducks. He is full of energy and we had a great day. He loves it when I chase him up and down the hall, but it wears me out. I wish that I had some of his extra energy. Please pray for Nicholas and his health.

July 14, 2006 Friday - (Day +588) Outpatient - (Day 545)

Nicholas woke up today ready to go and had been in the pool swimming by 10:00am. It is very hot here (100+) so it was nice to cool off. We are off to feed the ducks and the fish down on the river, eat lunch, and then go for a bike ride. He is so awesome. He will be at his moms this weekend and they will go camping. He will love it. Please pray for his health and IGG levels to stay high.

July 13, 2006 Thursday - (Day +587) Outpatient - (Day 544)

Nicholas has always liked to swim, but for the last couple years he could not because of the meds he was on and bone marrow transplant. He now can play in the sun and go swimming. He has always been a fish and loves the water. He learned to use a slip and slide the other day and loved it. We cannot hardly keep him out of the water. Please pray for his continued health.

July 12, 2006 Wednesday - (Day +586) Outpatient - (Day 543)

Nicholas is here wearing his favorite "freestyle shirt" and eating his favorite lunch - McDonalds. He is so much fun and he is doing great. We are on our way out to ride his bike and roll down the hill. Please pray for Nicholas' health and his system continues to gain strength.

July 10, 2006 Monday - (Day +584) Outpatient - (Day 541)

"Its my birthday and I am 5 years  old"                                                                     Nicholas Ashby

It is Nicholas' birthday and he ran down the hall to see all of the balloons and presents. He loves it all and was very excited. He put his face in his banana b-day cake and came up with blue all over his lips. He is running and playing and had to wash his new clothes because he wants to wear them today. He is so much fun. Well we are off to go out on out b-day river run and to see the yellow balloon. Please pray for Nicholas and his health. Today is another milestone in our lives.

July 9, 2006 Sunday - (Day +583) Outpatient - (Day 540)

It is the day before Nicholas birthday. He slept 11 hours and woke up ready to go. He wanted to have his coffee "together on the couch." He is so fun and full of it today. Will update later.

Nicholas got a spider man figurine today from our neighbor Ashley. He loves it and even slept with it. He got so excited when he opened the box and saw it. Spider man seems to be his new action hero. Please pray for nicholas and his health.

July 8, 2006 Saturday - (Day +582) Outpatient - (Day 539)

Nicholas was here today and we played of course. He was here hiding from me and thought that I did not know where he was...LOL!!! He got busted when I took the picture. It was a great day but very hot - 98deg. We relaxed in the air conditioner most of the afternoon and then went for a little drive in the early evening. It is his birthday on Monday and he will be 5 years old. How fun... Please continue to pray for our little Nicholas and his recovery.

RED BLOOD HEMATOCRIT = 43,000
PLATELET = 592,000

Nicholas has a doctors appointment is Spokane today to check his IGG Levels and if they are low he will receive a infusion of IVIG. Please pray that he produces his own and does not need it. I will update later.

UPDATE

Nicholas had a great appointment and we decided to go ahead and give him a infusion. He was borderline if to give it or not, but we would have had to in another week so we gave it today. He will be set now for 7 weeks or so and maybe longer. His overall numbers are great. He is a wild man and has been a pleasure the last couple days. He did so good even though he had to be poked three times. He slept through the infusion and was ready for McDonalds right after. Please continue to pray for our little Nicholas and his health.

July 5, 2006 Wednesday - (Day +579) Outpatient - (Day 536)

A Day with all of the kids........It was great!!!!

Nicholas was with me for the night. Mary Ann's dad had to go to the hospital so I had all of the kids -  nick, brother, hannah, and Harleigh. We had so much fun. We went to the river and fed the ducks, then came back to my house and had a ice cream party then went to bed so we could get ready for his doctors appointment in the morning. We have to leave for Spokane at 6:00am so it will be a early morning. Please pray that his numbers are good and he is good.

July 3, 2006 Monday - (Day +577) Outpatient - (Day 534)

Here he is Mr. Festive getting up at 7:30 am in his 4th of July Jammies. He really likes his stars and stripes pajamas. He has been so much fun and now today we are going to do our thing (see ducks, eat lunch, etc...) and then off to Moms we go. He has doctors appointments later this week so keep praying that his IGG levels stay high.

July 2, 2006 Sunday - (Day +576) Outpatient - (Day 533)

Nicholas and I went down to one of his favorite spots to feed the ducks. He loves it here because the ducks and very large carp are right there in the water. This was the first time to feed them and he was sooooo happy and excited, wish I had another piece of bread. It was pretty warm so we came back home into the air conditioning. Please continue to pray for our little Nicholas and his health.

July 1, 2006 Saturday - (Day +575) Outpatient - (Day 532)

It was a very warm day today (110deg) and despite the heat Nicholas wanted to stay outside and ride his bike. We rolled down the hill and fed the ducks also. He had a great day and we went to bed at 8:30pm. Today I think we will feed the ducks and go to the park. He is doing great and full of energy. I wish I had just a little of that energy, lol... Please pray that his IGG level stays great and holds on its own.
